What a busy life you had at that age! I admit that at the age of 20/21 I had a real fascination with Goethe (and not just Goethe...). He had an intellect and imagination that could understand and create in almost any field he chose to explore, and not just in literature. Some people seem destined to lead astoundingly prolific and creative lives.
I'd forgotten you'd been to Taize. Im pretty sure that a large proportion of my friends were there in 86 for one reason or another. 😂
Trying to remember what I was doing 40 years ago... probably some Venture scout thing cycling miles carrying crappy Vango orange tents. And almost certainly weeks on the west coast of Scotland at my grandparents.
Not diary related, I had no idea about the subscriber star rating, because I've never looked at my stats before! Now had a peek and surprised by some of the 5* subscribers.
I wonder how accurate the stats are, especially for peeps like myself who don't allow images unless we request them. I regularly get those "You haven't opened our emails in a while" messages because they can't track my opens.
I also block images. Yes email stats are always dependent on the tech. I guess that is why writers always like likes as real indication that someone is actually reading! I think there could be an etiquette established that when you do actually read anything on social media you should like it.
Well she stayed for a couple of years, so she must have been ok. She couldn't speak to anyone, but somehow it did her good, sitting in the garden mostly. I didn't want to write about her just then as she just arrived. I hope I mention her later in the year.
WOW! I do love a solid coincidence or three. Not only did I ‘perform’ the synopsis of The Sorrows of Young Werther in Every Brilliant Thing at the Fringe yesterday, but I went to see my son Eric in the final show of ‘Eleanor’, performed by the new theatre company: Ganymede ( X @eleanorfringe24 Insta @ganymedetheatrecompany )
Very good Sophie. Though it's quite annoying all this connectedness. Now I need to read up about who Ganymede was in mythology. I mean I was well read, but not in all that ancient foundations of western civilisation stuff. Clueless. Do you remembemy poem about Brian Cox...

The like as a read receipt… I do that after chatting in messages and comments like here. A useful “I see you” at the end of in interaction.
What a fabulous summer you are having back then. Do you know how your grandmother enjoyed it?

Europa? Ganymede? Io?
Not those, but they’re my favorite moon names.
Europa, because it was named after a continent?
Ganymede, because it’s so… Elven.
OK, Greek, I looked it up.
Io. You have to love Io.
Such a man! Such a mind!
